Hoi An tourism thrives positively
DNO - Hoi An, now part of Da Nang city, is taking bold steps to revitalise its tourism industry by blending community creativity with local culture, instead of relying solely on its heritage sites.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, businesses in An Bang faced major challenges. Entrepreneur Luong Thuy Ha rallied the community to create the Tan Thanh Fishing Village Market, providing a platform for locals to promote and sell their products. The success of this model has inspired similar initiatives across Hoi An.
Today, over 100 businesses, including Beachside Boutique Home, have joined the "Destination Club," fostering a shared-growth tourism community.
Even areas outside the ancient town, with fewer heritage advantages, have tapped into their strengths to attract visitors and generate stable income.

The 300-year-old Tra Que Vegetable Village is another success story. Hosting nearly 274 households, it offers visitors hands-on farming experiences while promoting local agriculture.
In 2024, Tra Que was honoured by the World Tourism Organisation (UN Tourism) as one of the best tourism villages globally.
Meanwhile, the "Craft Villages Go Digital" project, winner of the 2024 Kotler Awards for Innovation, has empowered Hoi An’s traditional crafts sector by integrating digital marketing and global outreach.
Hoi A now boasts over 1,400 cultural-historical sites and 50 traditional crafts and has been recognised as a UNESCO Creative City. Its focus on green tourism, sustainable development, and preserving local identity is creating new momentum for the city's future.
