Da Nang fishermen get bumper krill catch
ĐNO - In recent days, fishermen in some coastal communes and wards in Da Nang have been catching huge quantities of the tiny crustacean in Duy Nghia Commune.

These days, a corner of the coastal area in Duy Nghia Commune has been bustling with the laughter and chatter of fishermen because of the late-season krill haul. Not only local fishermen but also crews from Dien Ban Dong Ward or Thang An Commune have gathered here to catch krill.
According to local fishermen, the tiny crustacean often appears 2 - 4 nautical miles offshore. The krill season usually ends at the end of the fourth lunar month, but this year it is longer than usual, continuing into the 6th lunar month.

A fisherman in Tay Son Dong Village, Duy Nghia Commune, said that engine-equipped coracle boats are used to scout and trace krill-rich waters.
From morning to noon or late afternoon, depending on the coracle boat, fishermen can harvest from a few dozen kilograms to several hundred kilograms of krill. Although the yield is smaller than during peak season, one can still earn from a few million VND to over VND 10 million. After deducting fuel and other expenses, each labourer can pocket VND 2 - 3 million on a good day
