At the meeting, Mori Takero talked about the importance of the annual cultural exchange programme and sought the province’s view on continuing the event.

He also raised the issue of introducing Japanese language education in Quang Nam schools, suggesting leading high schools like Nguyen Binh Khiem, Le Thanh Tong, and Tran Quy Cap.

Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet thanked the Consul General for close cooperation in organising cultural and NGO activities in the province, especially in Hoi An.

He emphasised that the cultural exchange programme has helped attract tourists and strengthen Vietnam - Japan friendship over 20 editions.

Quang Nam supports continuing the programme in 2025 and will coordinate with Japanese partners for timely preparation. Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet proposed postponing the event to the end of the year instead of August as before. Future decisions will be made by the new administrative leadership.

According to Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, cultural exchanges and social activities should not be disrupted. The Hoi An - Japan programme is both a cultural and tourism asset and it should be maintained.

He also asked the Japanese consulate to continue supporting Quang Nam’s cooperation with Japan, including funding and technical support for the Vietnam-Japan cultural space in Hoi An, promoting green tourism, and attracting Japanese investment.

Currently, Quang Nam hosts 19 Japanese investment projects worth over USD 140 million. Luong Nguyen Minh Triet hopes Mori Takero will help attract more Japanese investors to the province.
