Da Nang: "New Dubai of Southeast Asia"
(QNO) - Nguyen Van Quang, Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee has just highlighted the city’s commitment to building a new economic model through the development of a free trade zone and an international financial centre.

Secretary Quang emphasised the potential benefits of merging Da Nang with Quang Nam, which would create a combined area of 12,000 km² and a population of over 3 million people.

The merger is seen as an opportunity for both regions to leverage Da Nang’s unique policies and economic mechanisms. Secretary Quang stated that the unity between Da Nang and Quang Nam is essential for maximising their historical and traditional strengths.

Regarding the development of an international financial centre, Secretary Quang said while Ho Chi Minh City has a strong traditional financial ecosystem, Da Nang offers strategic advantages such as a prime location, attractive living and working environments, good security, and government and public commitment.
He also mentioned that Da Nang is focusing on attracting high-quality human resources in the technology and finance sectors.

The city is also developing a free trade zone model, which is under careful consideration for government approval.
A major project in development is a coastal urban area with five artificial islands, creating about 48 km of new coastline.
This project, compared to a "new Dubai of Southeast Asia," aims to enhance Da Nang’s international image and economic potential. The city is actively seeking investment and exploring special mechanisms to attract strategic investors for this unique project.
