Connection with South Korea's tourism market
(QNO) - A workshop to improve capacity of South Korean tourism market was organized on September 15 in Hoi An city (Quang Nam province) by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), Quang Nam’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, ASEAN-South Korea Center.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Director of VNAT declared that South Korea has been one of Vietnam’s leading tourism markets over recent years. In 2010, Vietnam welcomed only 53,452 tourists from South Korea. In 2016, this number was more than 1.54 million arrivals. In the first eight months of this year, Vietnam received over 1.5 million South Koreans in total of the country’s 10 million international tourists, up 50% against the same period last year. South Korea becomes the second largest tourism market to Vietnam.

At present, South Korea also becomes a key tourism market in Quang Nam. In 2016, the province received more than 83,000 South Korean tourists in comparison with 3,800 arrivals in 2000. In the first 6 months of 2017, over 88,000 South Korean tourists came to Quang Nam. Especially, Hoi An city is regarded as the Venice of South East Asia, one of the Koreans’ favourite destinations in central Vietnam.
The workshop discussed the tourism trend of South Korea, propagandic strategies of tourism combined with cultural heritages, priority to Hoi An ancient town. It is a good chance for Quang Nam representatives and businesses to exchange information and learn more about South Korean culture, land, people and tourism market to attract more visitors from this country in the coming time.
