DNO - Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and a high-level Polish delegation arrived in Da Nang on the evening of October 23, beginning an official visit to Viet Nam.

On behalf of Da Nang’s leadership, Vice Chairwoman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi presided over the welcoming ceremony at Da Nang International Airport.
Also present to greet the Polish delegation were Vietnamese Ambassador to Poland Ha Hoang Hai and Joanna Skoczek, Poland’s Chargé d’Affaires and Head of Mission at the Polish Embassy in Ha Noi.
According to the itinerary, Prime Minister Donald Tusk and members of the high-level Polish delegation visit Hoi An Ancient Town and several local sites before departing Da Nang for the capital city of Ha Noi.
According to a report on cooperation between Da Nang and Polish localities and partners, the central Vietnamese city currently hosts two Polish-invested foreign direct investment (FDI) projects, with total registered capital of approximately US$138,000.
The projects operate in information and communications and commercial services. The Honorary Consulate of Poland in Da Nang was established on December 27, 2023.

In recent years, the municipal People’s Committee and relevant local departments have received delegations from diplomatic missions in Vietnam and Polish businesses for visits and working sessions.
In the cultural sector, Polish architect Kazimierz Kwiatkowski (1944 - 1997) made significant contributions to the preservation of historical monuments and archaeological sites in Vietnam, notably Hoi An and the My Son Sanctuary, both in Da Nang now.
In recognition of his contributions to the preservation and promotion of Hoi An’s World Cultural Heritage, the local authorities built a park in the heart of the ancient town in 2007 and erected a bust in his honor.
Affectionately known by Hoi An residents as Kazik, Kwiatkowski remains closely associated with efforts to safeguard Hoi An’s cultural heritage.
Joanna Skoczek, Poland’s Chargé d’Affaires and Head of Mission at the Polish Embassy in Ha Noi, said Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s visit aims to identify and affirm the areas with the greatest potential for cooperation, including education, trade, cooperation at international forums, culture and people-to-people exchanges.
She said several important documents will be signed during the visit, reinforcing the legal basis for bilateral ties.

During the Vietnam visit, the Polish PM was accompanied by Minister of Science and Higher Education Marcin Kulasek, Secretary of State and Government Spokesperson in the Chancellery of the PM Adam Szłapka, Undersecretary of State in the Chancellery Agnieszka Rucińska, and Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Security Advisor to the PM Robert Kupiecki, among others.
Poland was among the first European nations to establish diplomatic ties with Viet Nam on February 4, 1950, and stands as one of Viet Nam’s most important trade partners in Central and Eastern Europe.
Two-way trade has risen steadily, particularly since the EU - Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) took effect.
