(QNO) - The Philippine Coast Guard vessel BRP GABRIELA SILANG (OPV-8301) docked at Tien Sa Port (Da Nang, Vietnam) on April 14, marking the start of its 4-day visit to the Vietnamese Coast Guard Region 2 Command.
At the reception were Colonel Doan Ngoc Triet, Deputy Commander of the Vietnam Coast Guard, along with representatives from Da Nang city, Military Zone 5, and other government agencies.
The BRP GABRIELA SILANG is a modern vessel equipped with advanced technology for maritime patrol and law enforcement, measuring 83.6 metres in length and having a displacement of 2,238 tons. It accommodates a crew of 84.
This visit is the first occasion on which the Philippine Coast Guard has dispatched a vessel to Vietnam, marking a significant advancement in bilateral relations.
The visit presents an opportunity for both Vietnam and the Philippines to share experiences in maritime management and protection, as well as to discuss potential future cooperation.
During the visit, Captain of the BRP vessel Eleizer Gonzales Ibarientos led a tour of the vessel, showcasing its radar system and operational facilities.
The two sides also engaged in friendly exchanges and participated in a volleyball match on 16 April, followed by a joint training session on 17 April, thereby further strengthening their friendship and cooperation for peace and stability in the East Sea.
