New museum in Hoi An highlights Japan’s renowned Satsuma ware

DNO - The Satsuma Museum in Da Nang’s Hoi An officially opened to the public on Friday morning.

Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Mori Takero, Consul General of Japan in Da Nang, along with representatives from various departments and agencies, cultural researchers, and numerous antique collectors nationwide.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Japanese Consul General in Da Nang Mori Takero emphasized that Satsuma ware is one of the most distinguished representations of Japan’s traditional artistic excellence and cultural heritage.

He noted that the opening of a museum dedicated to this type of ceramics in Hoi An carried profound significance.

He added the museum will serve as a reminder of glorious historical and cultural exchanges between Vietnam and Japan in the past, as well as open up new opportunities to strengthen cultural connections in the new era.

Located near the Hoi An - Japan Cultural Space on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, the museum adds to a distinctive cultural complex that offers visitors deeper insights into the long-standing diplomatic and cultural ties between Vietnam and Japan.

The museum is home to more than 1,500 remarkable artifacts of enduring historical and artistic value.
