(QNO) - The export of Quang Nam fish sauce to Japan presents an opportunity for businesses and highlights the need for local OCOP (One Commune, One Product) producers to professionalise and meet strict international standards to access global markets.
At the production facility of Tam Tuoi fish sauce in Binh Duong (Thang Binh), preparations are in full swing to ship the first batch of fish sauce to Japan by the end of May.
This success follows over six months of refining production processes, completing technical documentation, and meeting the rigorous standards of Japan, one of the toughest markets globally.
Ha Van Thuan, Director of Tam Tuoi Trading and Service Company, said that their fish sauce samples, with Olivin Logistics' support, were tested in Japan.
After passing three tests, Japanese experts visited the facility to assess the production process before approving the product for the Japanese market.
Olivin Logistics is also working to introduce other products from Quang Nam, including Quang noodles, dried noodles, and Pho from the Hapinut brand, to Japan.
The company has opened an office in Japan to learn about the market and collaborate with distributors, while a team of Japanese experts helps with quality testing and packaging design.
Director of Olivin Logistics Huynh Trung Trong emphasised the need to understand local market demands, adjust production strategies, and focus on packaging and labelling. Many OCOP products, despite their good quality, struggle in international markets due to inadequate packaging and labelling.
By working with experts in Japan, Olivin Logistics helps businesses redesign packaging and obtain necessary certifications, ensuring their products meet the standards for entry into Japan and other markets.
