DNO - The Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) Tour Asia - MB Vietnam Cup 2025 officially opened at Da Nang’s Tien Son Sports Arena on Tuesday evening.
Co-organized by the America & Asia Connect Co., Ltd. (AAC), the Da Nang Pickleball Federation, and FPT Play, it is the first international pickleball tournament held in Da Nang.
The tournament brings together nearly 600 athletes competing in two categories: Professional (Pro) and Amateur.
In particular, the Pro category sees the participation of Ben Johns, a legendary Pickleball player with more than 150 PPA Tour titles in the United States, along with PPA champions such as Phuc Huynh, Tyson McGuffin, and Trinh Linh Giang.
The tournament also features a special Celebrity Cup where Vietnamese celebrities including Tuan Hung, Minh Tiep, Chi Bao and Binh Minh compete and interact with fans.
Notably, the tournament aims to set a new Guinness World Record for the pickleball event with the largest number of spectators in the world on the day of the final match on October 4 with more than 6,000 people expected. Also, a large-scale Vietnam Sport Festival will be held at the competition venue.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the tournament, Permanent Vice Chairman of the municipal People's Council Tran Phuoc Son cum Chairman of the city’s Pickleball Federation, noted that this is the first time an international pickleball tournament has been held in Vietnam and Da Nang is honored to be the host.
The event brings together many famous players from all over the world, creating a valuable opportunity for domestic athletes, especially those from Da Nang, to compete, exchange and learn from international opponents.
Also, it not only promotes the development of pickleball nationwide but also inspires the young generation and local sports fans to contribute to the development of the mass sports movement.
In addition to the sports value, the tournament offers a good opportunity to advertise the image of Da Nang - a dynamic, friendly and attractive destination rich in tourism potential to domestic and international friends, thereby contributing to boosting its international integration in the field of sports.
