International conference on healthcare digital transformation

DNO - Patient-centered healthcare digital transformation in Vietnam, along with the development of smart hospitals and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare were spotlighted at an international conference in Da Nang on Tuesday.

Themed “Healthcare Digital Transformation and Smart Hospital Development: International Experience and Implementation in Vietnam”, the event was organized by the Vietnam Association for Medical Informatics in collaboration with the Suc Khoe & Doi Song (Health & Life) Newspaper and the TPP Company (the UK).

The event attracted policymakers, leaders from the Ministry of Health, representatives of provincial and municipal health departments, hospitals across the Central and Central Highlands regions, as well as leading healthcare and technology experts.

Participants discussed pathways for developing a modern, intelligent healthcare system centered on patient care.

Also, experts explored a range of key topics, including the practical implementation of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and lessons learned from large-scale programs; patient-centered healthcare digital transformation in Vietnam, along with existing challenges and solutions; the development of smart hospitals and the vision of connected hospitals of the future; and the application of AI in healthcare, from innovation to clinical impact.

Delegates also discussed the role of the National Data Center in managing shared databases, digital identity systems, and trusted data-sharing mechanisms.

This demonstrates Vietnam's determination to build a unified data architecture for the healthcare sector.

In particular, Vietnam is facing a significant opportunity to build a data-driven healthcare system that is well-prepared for the era of precision medicine and AI.

The consensus reached among policymakers, healthcare experts, and technology partners at the conference has opened up new directions for development and foster sustainable partnerships in the years ahead.
