A wealth of experiences

According to Tran Van Chuan, a guide at the Da Nang Museum under the Da Nang Heritage and Museum Management Center, “Game Tourane” is an experiential educational program organized in a team-building format.

Participants visit four locations within a one-kilometer radius, including the former Tourane City Hall (now the building at 42 Bach Dang Street), Da Nang’s oldest street sign, the Dien Hai Citadel, and the Da Nang Museum.

At each stop, teams receive an introduction to the site and learn about its historical significance before taking on challenges set by the organizers, such as solving coded messages, answering questions and participating in games. The team completing the challenges in the shortest time earns the highest score.

At the end of each activity, teams are provided with all the necessary tools and materials to create a 2D artwork. The team that completes their artwork on time, meets all the criteria, and finishes the fastest receives the maximum score.

Hoang Mai, a visitor from Da Lat, said she was pleasantly surprised to have the opportunity to join the game-based tour. Through the journey, she gained insights into Da Nang’s history, culture and architecture.

In-depth exploration of Da Nang Museum

While “Game Tourane” takes visitors back in time to explore traces of Da Nang during the French colonial period, “Da Nang Museum Decoded Tour” offers a more in-depth tour led by the museum’s own staff.

As they move through the exhibition space, participants follow the connections between artefacts, photographs and archival materials to discover the historical, cultural and social layers that have shaped Da Nang from the past to the present.

Going beyond simply viewing the exhibits, the tour encourages visitors to “read” the artefacts by paying attention to details that are often overlooked, asking questions about their historical context and listening to the stories behind the museum's selection, arrangement and interpretation of historical objects.

Ms. Tran Thi Hau, a visitor from Ha Noi, said this was her first time exploring the Da Nang Museum and listening to a guide explaining each exhibition area.

The program helped her gain a deeper understanding of the city's development throughout history, making her feel even more attached to the land and its people.
