Indian naval ships arrive in Da Nang

DNO - Three Indian naval ships, including guided-missile destroyer INS Delhi, anti-submarine warfare corvette INS Kiltan, and fleet tanker INS Shakti, docked at the Tien Sa Port on Thursday, beginning a 4-day friendship visit to Da Nang from July 24 to 27.

Led by Rear Admiral Susheel Menon, Commander of India’s Eastern Fleet, the Indian naval ships were warmly welcomed by representatives of the municipal Department of Foreign Affairs, the Naval Region 3 Command, the Military Region 5 Command, and the Border Guard Command.

During their stay in Da Nang, the crew will pay courtesy visits to leaders of the city, Military Region 5, and Naval Region 3. They will also get involved in a volleyball match with officers and soldiers from Naval Region 3. Notably, they will join bilateral training exercises at sea with Naval Region 3 forces.

The visit made by the Indian Navy fleet contributes to strengthening the friendship, cooperation, exchange and mutual understanding between the two sides, further promoting the Vietnam - India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established in 2016.

Over the years, India has regularly sent naval ships to Da Nang. The most recent visit was in May 2023 as two Indian naval ships: INS Delhi and INS Satpura, made a port call.

India is one of Da Nang’s important international partners. There is now a direct air route connecting Ahmedabad (India) to Da Nang, with a frequency of 3 flights/week.

In the first half of 2025, Indian visitors accounted for about 7.38% of the total international arrivals to Da Nang, ranking second among the city’s top 10 international tourist markets.
