Hung Kings Temple Festival and Ancestral Land Culture - Tourism Week 2026

As recently reported by VNA, Phu Tho, as the ancestral land of the Vietnamese people, is home to nearly 1,000 heritage sites, including five UNESCO-recognised cultural heritages and numerous intangible assets.

Among them, the Hung Kings Temple Complex stands out as a sacred site linked to the worship of the Hung Kings, a UNESCO-recognised intangible cultural heritage.

Held annually, the festival is a major national event, offering Vietnamese people nationwide and abroad a chance to honour their ancestors and strengthen national unity.

This year’s version features expanded scale and new activities across the province, notably the revival of the street folk culture festival, adding a vibrant celebration of traditional values.

As part of the Culture - Tourism Week, Phu Tho is showcasing distinctive cultural features and folk arts (including Xoan singing, Ghẹo singing, Trống quân singing), alongside key destinations such as Tay Thien, Tam Dao, Long Coc tea hills, Thanh Thuy hot springs and Hoa Binh Lake.

The opening began with the performance “Âm vang nguồn cội” (Resonance of the Ancestral Land), combining ceremonial drums with the song “Đất tổ tìm về” (Back to the roots) to create a solemn atmosphere.

The next artistic programme was divided into three chapters: (1) Sacred Origins, which reenacted the nation’s founding through the dance drama “Con Rồng cháu Tiên" (Descendants of the Dragon and Fairy); (2) Journey to the Heritage Land, showcasing traditional arts such as Xoan singing, gongs performances, and folk songs; and (3) contemporary performances reflecting the dynamism of Phu Tho in the era of integration and development.

With the participation of numerous artists and artisans, the event served as both an artistic highlight and a platform to promote the cultural values of the ancestral land to domestic and international audiences.
