DNO - As part of the 4th edition of the Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF IV), the “American Cinema Spotlight” program officially opened at the Le Do Cinema with the screening of the classic film “Somewhere in Time” produced by director Jeannot Szwarc.
The event featured the presence of Hollywood actress Jane Seymour and American film producer Bill Mechanic, former Chairman and CEO of 20th Century Fox.
Selected as the opening film, “Somewhere in Time” (released in 1980) tells a romantic story intertwined with fantasy elements.
The film follows a playwright who discovers a way to travel back in time to 1912 in pursuit of love with a stage actress he becomes captivated by after seeing an old portrait of her.
Speaking at the post-screening discussion, the film’s leading actress Jane Seymour expressed her deep emotions about revisiting the work.
She shared “Somewhere in Time” has always been a very special part in both my career and my heart. The film is a testament to a beautiful love story capable of transcending all boundaries of space and time.
“Being able to watch this film again after so many years, amid such a warm reception from Vietnamese audiences, is truly my unforgettable experience” she said.
In addition to interacting with the audience at the cinema, Jane Seymour also directly led an Acting Master Class, sharing her acting experience with promising talents in the DANAFF Talents 2026 program.
The "American Cinema Spotlight" presented 13 outstanding films spanning from the silent film era to contemporary cinema.
The program not only celebrated the art of filmmaking but also served as a bridge for cultural exchange and cinematic cooperation between Vietnam and the United States.
