DNO - Central coastal localities from Ha Tinh to Da Nang are forecast to experience moderate to heavy rain , accompanied by risks of thunderstorms, whirlwinds and lightning, on July 26 and 27, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.
On the early morning of July 26, rain was recorded at 78 specialized rain gauges in Da Nang, with moderate to heavy rain noted in the northern area.
There is a warning of intense localized rainfall exceeding 100mm in a three-hour period. These localities are prone to tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind during thunderstorms. There is also a risk of flooding in low-lying urban and industrial zones, as well as the possibility of flash floods and landslides in mountainous regions and along small streams.
Rainfall in the region from Ha Tinh to Da Nang may begin to decrease from July 28.
On Saturday, the Gulf of Tonkin, the northern and central regions of the East Sea (including the Hoang Sa special zone), as well as the sea areas from south of Quang Tri to Quang Ngai, are expected to experience showers and thunderstorms. During the thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes and strong wind gusts at levels 7 to 8.
During the day and night of July 27, the southern area of the northern East Sea (including the Hoang Sa special zone), the central East Sea, and the sea area from Gia Lai to Ho Chi Minh City will have strong southwest winds at level 6, with gusts reaching levels 7 to 8. Wave heights will range from 2 to 4 meters, resulting in rough seas.
To proactively respond to natural disasters, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Da Nang has issued a document recommending that units, localities, people and tourists should remain vigilant for ongoing thunderstorms, particularly in the afternoons and evenings, Notably, they should be aware of potential for tornadoes, lightning, hail, localized heavy rain and strong gusts of wind.
