GreenViet pioneers in Da Nang’s biodiversity conservation

GreenViet, officially known as the Green Viet Nam Biodiversity Conservation Center, is currently led by Director Tran Huu Vy.

Born in 1982 in Quang Tri Province, Vy graduated from the Biology - Environment Faculty at the University of Education and Science - the University of Da Nang.

Vy’s passion for conservation began in 2006 during a primate conservation training course at the Cuc Phuong National Park where he had the opportunity to work with international experts. That experience inspired him to pursue a career in biodiversity research and nature protection instead of teaching.

The idea for establishing a non-governmental organization dedicated to biodiversity conservation came while Vy was conducting research at the Kon Ka Kinh National Park in Gia Lai Province in 2006. In 2012, that idea became reality with the founding of GreenViet.

Since its establishment, GreenViet has made significant contributions to Da Nang, particularly through its project to conserve the red-shanked douc langur population on the Son Tra Peninsula.

Through its great efforts, the organization has strengthened public awareness and mobilized community participation in nature conservation.

Additionally, GreenViet has established the first Nature Experience Education Center in Da Nang, serving students and tourists for free. This center has become a space to spread awareness and love for nature.

The journey of GreenViet along with the persistent commitment of Director Tran Huu Vy has significantly contributed to the extensive development of conservation work in Da Nang and building trust in the community. It is not only a story of nature conservation, but also a testament to the spirit of green living and responsibility for the city’s sustainable future.
