ĐNO - The Da Nang International Airport has officially unveiled a Golden Horse mascot installation near the entrance of its international Terminal 2.
The aim is to create a warm Lunar New Year atmosphere and conveying wishes of peace and good fortune to travellers.
The artwork is the result of a dedicated collaboration with renowned Vietnamese mascot sculptor Dinh Van Tam, a native of Quang Tri Province who has become a familiar name among art lovers in recent years.
Dinh has earned nationwide recognition for breathing life into large-scale zodiac mascots.
His previous works drew widespread public attention and social media interest for their realistic appearance, distinctive spirit and exceptional level of craftsmanship.
Standing five metres tall, the Golden Horse is the product of more than a month of continuous work by Dinh and his team of artisans.
The structure is built on a solid load-bearing steel frame and clad in more than 60 square metres of golden aluminium composite panels.
To achieve a refined and vivid surface, the artists meticulously cut and assembled approximately 150,000 small aluminium pieces by hand.

This intricate technique allows the mascot to maintain a sense of strength and grandeur while producing a soft, shimmering light effect that enhances the aesthetic quality of the airport’s gateway space.
From the flowing mane to the sculpted muscles, every detail reflects careful attention, conveying an image of vitality, resilience and elegance while remaining approachable to visitors.
According to Nguyen Xuan Kieu, the Head of Communications and External Relations at the Da Nang International Airport Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company, the airport operator began working with the artist more than six months in advance to ensure the mascot would be completed in time for the Lunar New Year of the Horse.
“By bringing the Golden Horse to the airport during the Spring Festival, we hope to spread positive energy, inspiration and confidence in a new year filled with breakthroughs,” Kieu said.
He added that the installation reflects the airport’s efforts to enhance passenger experience through cultural and artistic elements.
As the old lunar year draws to a close and new journeys begin, the Da Nang International Airport expects the Golden Horse to serve as a symbol of good luck and optimism, offering a small but meaningful moment of joy for passengers arriving and departing during the festive season.
