DNO - The French Institute in Vietnam in Da Nang opened the exhibition “Season of Reality” by French photographer Carô Gervais in the city on Friday.
The event aims to offer a fresh artistic experience and foster cultural exchange between Vietnam and France.
Created during the French artist’s residency in Da Lat in the spring of 2024, the “Season of Reality” exhibition is inspired by the autobiography Métisse Blanche by writer Kim Lefèvre.
By combining local materials with the language of photography, Carô Gervais explores themes of memory, identity, origins and belonging.
The works invite viewers to reflect on the relationship between past and present, truth and emotion, as well as the layers of memory embedded in landscapes and living spaces.
The exhibition is part of Photo Hanoi’ 25, the third International Photography Biennale initiated and coordinated by the French Institute in Vietnam.
The event is held under the sponsorship of the Ha Noi People's Committee, in collaboration with the Ha Noi Department of Culture and Sports, with support from UNESCO.
The previous edition of the biennale attracted over 200,000 visitors and brought together a large number of artists, curators, and cultural organizations from Vietnam and abroad.
According to representatives of the French Institute in Vietnam, the exhibition offers local audiences greater access to contemporary photography and contributes to strengthening cultural exchanges between Vietnam and France.
Running for three days, the exhibition promises to provide the public in Da Nang with a distinctive artistic experience, enrich the city’s cultural and artistic life and further promote international cultural cooperation.
