At the working session, a representative from the Thüringen delegation noted that Da Nang and German state of Thüringen have engaged in numerous reciprocal visits and exchanges.

This latest visit aimed to establish direct connections with organizations and agencies in Da Nang to meet Germany's workforce needs, particularly in nursing, elderly care, and other sectors facing labor shortages.

Meanwhile, the workforce in Vietnam in general and Da Nang in particular holds significant potential to meet this German state's recruitment needs.

The German side emphasized that the recruitment should be closely associated with professional requirements and vocational skills, especially German language proficiency, so that employees can work effectively and adapt well in this country.

In reply, the leader of the Da Nang Department of Home Affairs reported that nearly 3,000 workers from Da Nang go abroad for work each year.

This figure includes approximately 2,000 workers employed under formal contracts and over 1,000 engaged in seasonal jobs in the Republic of Korea (the RoK). Japan, the RoK, and Taiwan (China) remain the preferred destinations for the city's workforce.

As for the German market, there had only 12 workers from Da Nang to work in Germany between the year 2025 and the first half of 2026. According to the Da Nang Department of Home Affairs, this result does not yet fully reflect the city's human resource potential or the actual needs of its labourers.

For this reason, the Da Nang Department of Home Affairs asked Thüringen government to provide more details regarding the need for its labour recruitment, professional qualifications, German language certification, salary, and working conditions.

Alongside, the department hoped to receive Thüringen's support in connecting local enterprises and organizations with facilities in Germany that are looking for labour recruitment.

Also, the Da Nang side proposed collaborative training programs that combine German language training with vocational skills while establishing a cooperation mechanism for recruitment, training, and reception.

Initially, both sides will prioritize the fields of nursing and elderly care, alongside other sectors that align with the German state’s requirements and Da Nang's labour supply capabilities.
