DNO - Foreign communities in Da Nang are increasingly organizing international cultural events in an effort to reshape the city’s tourism appeal.

At the forefront of this movement is Danang 365, an event organization founded by Alex Castaneda.
It has been instrumental in curating a series of large-scale festivals that blend international concepts with local engagement.
The group’s 2026 calendar reflects an ambitious vision to transform Da Nang into a year-round festival city.
Vibrant calendar of international cultural festivals
The season began in March with the third edition of the Holi Festival, a traditional Indian celebration of colours, attracting more than 1,000 participants.
Its success underscores Da Nang’s growing appeal among Indian travellers, one of the fastest-expanding visitor source markets to Vietnam.
In April, the Songkran Festival, inspired by Thailand’s famous water celebration, drew nearly 3,000 attendees, turning public spaces into lively hubs of interaction and cultural exchange.
One of the most anticipated additions this year is Da Nang’s first Craft Beer Festival, scheduled for the upcoming Reunification Day (April 30) and International Workers' Day (May 1) holiday.
The open-air event is expected to feature over 20 breweries and more than 100 varieties of beer, alongside a diverse culinary offering.
Designed as a family-friendly experience, it signals a shift toward more inclusive, lifestyle-oriented tourism products.
The highlight of the summer will be the debut of Danang Summer Fest in July.
With around 60 booths and four continuous music stages, the festival aims to deliver an immersive entertainment experience through live performances, dance and interactive activities. These together become signature attraction drawing both domestic and international audiences.
Creating meaningful travel experiences
Alongside entertainment, these events align closely with Da Nang’s broader tourism strategy, which emphasizes creating memorable, experience-driven travel.
As global travel trends shift away from passive sightseeing toward meaningful engagement, community-based festivals are proving to be powerful tools for connection.
“Visitors today are looking for moments they can remember, not just places they can see. Such events create authentic spaces where locals, expatriates and tourists can interact naturally”, Castaneda noted.
Through high-quality, internationally standard events, Danang 365 aims to refresh Da Nang’s image and appeal, transforming it from a sightseeing destination into a place where memorable moments are created, encouraging visitors to return.
At the same time, these events offer local residents and domestic tourists the chance to experience vibrant multicultural festivals without leaving the city. This is at the heart of Danang 365’s vision to elevate event-driven tourism.
Balancing global standards with local identity
In every event, Danang 365 strive to strike a balance between international standards and local cultural identity.
Global elements are reflected in professional operations and curated experiences, drawing on proven models and concepts widely recognized around the world to attract diverse audiences.
Festivals such as Holi, Songkran and Christmas markets, for instance, have demonstrated strong appeal both in their countries of origin and across international destinations.
Environmental sustainability is also a key focus, ensuring that events contribute to preserving Da Nang’s natural assets.
As Da Nang continues to elevate its event tourism, the role of the expatriate community is becoming increasingly significant.
Together with local residents, they are helping shape a more multicultural, experience-driven event landscape that strengthens community connections and positions the city as an attractive destination on the global tourism map.
