Among the most prominent examples is Hoiana, the integrated resort developed by VinaCapital and Gold Yield Enterprises. Launched a decade ago with an investment of US$4 billion, the project has become one of the region’s largest tourism investments.

In the first half of 2026 alone, its developer, Nam Hoi An Development Co., Ltd., was estimated to contribute VND470 billion to the city’s budget, up 42% year on year.

The resort currently employs around 2,700 workers, about 80% of whom are local residents, while also supporting community development through social responsibility programs.

The city’s ambition to attract higher-value manufacturing is equally reflected in ICT Vina, part of South Korea’s Dentium Group. Dentium operates three projects in Da Nang Hi-tech Park with a combined investment of US$257 million, making it the largest South Korean investor in the park

Alongside manufacturing dental equipment, the company is planning to develop a hydrogen ecosystem to reduce carbon emissions while targeting energy efficiency of more than 60%, aligning its expansion with Da Nang’s green urban development strategy.

Japanese manufacturer Daiwa Vietnam, a subsidiary of GlobeRide, represents another success story. Since establishing operations in Hoa Khanh Industrial Park in 2007, the company has expanded from several hundred employees to a workforce of 3,500, becoming an important contributor to the city’s exports.

Its products is distributed to markets worldwide, strengthening Da Nang’s role in global supply chains. Daiwa is also among the few foreign-invested enterprises in Vietnam to receive the National Quality Gold Award, recognizing excellence in manufacturing and product quality.

Da Nang continues to strengthen its position as one of central Vietnam’s leading destinations for foreign direct investment (FDI).

As of June 30, 2026, the city hosted 1,133 FDI projects with total registered capital of approximately US$11 billion. In the first half of the year, newly registered FDI reached US$357.8 million, 1.8 times higher than the same period in 2025, with 66 new projects approved.

Investment has been concentrated in trade and services, IT, advanced manufacturing and modern retail, while existing foreign investors continued expanding operations through additional capital injections.

The FDI sector generated an estimated VND6.33 trillion in social investment capital during the first six months of 2026, up 30.6% year on year, making it one of the city’s fastest-growing economic drivers.

Several landmark projects highlight investor confidence in Da Nang’s long-term potential.

These include the Lien Chieu Container Port, developed through a partnership between Vietnam’s Hateco Group and the Netherlands’ APM Terminals, with total investment of about VND45.3 trillion, and HS Hyosung Quang Nam’s planned US$100 million commercial and automotive carpet manufacturing plant.

Da Nang is gradually shifting toward attracting higher-quality investment. Rather than competing primarily through tax incentives or low labor costs, the city is focusing on institutional transparency, efficient public services, skilled human resources, logistics connectivity and a favorable living environment for international professionals.

As global competition for investment intensifies, Da Nang’s experience suggests that the next stage of FDI is no longer defined simply by the volume of capital attracted.

Instead, pioneering foreign enterprises are helping the city build a more innovative, sustainable and globally connected economy where long-term value creation increasingly outweighs investment size alone.
