DNO - In Da Nang, Vietnam, 2 students with lifelong disabilities defy adversity, entering university with resilience, ambition, and dreams brighter than their challenges.

Doan Gia Khanh, born with brittle bone disease, faces the daily risk of fractures and moves only with the help of a wheelchair. Yet this has never dimmed his ambition.

Now a freshman in Human Resource Management at the University of Economics under the University of Da Nang, Khanh views higher education as both a challenge and an opportunity.

“Becoming a student is my pride and my motivation, a reminder that persistence always opens doors”, he said.

His journey required immense preparation at home, with family and teachers supporting him through exams.

Khanh hopes the next 4 years will sharpen both his academic knowledge and life skills, empowering him to find meaningful work despite his physical limitations.

Equally inspiring is Tran Phuoc Bao Ngan, a young woman with cerebral palsy who has lived with quadriplegia since childhood.

From a young age, she dreamed of studying IT at the University of Science and Technology.

Despite the challenges of mobility and daily life, Ngan excelled through high school and for the time being, she proudly begins her studies in IT.

Both students have received vital support: Khanh was granted a VND 10 million scholarship, while Ngan was gifted a laptop, tuition waivers and community assistance.

Classmates help her navigate stairs and campus spaces, turning solidarity into daily encouragement.

“Our mission is not just to educate, but to empower every student to pursue their dreams”, emphasised Dr. Nguyen Linh Nam.

These are not just stories of victory, but testaments to how resilience transforms hardship into possibility, igniting a spark of belief in education and hope across a city and far beyond.
