Da Nang works to expand cooperation on sending workers to RoK

Promoting stronger cooperation

In mid-July 2026, a delegation from the Da Nang Department of Home Affairs, led by its Deputy Director Nguyen Qui Quy, visited and worked with Vietnamese diplomatic representative agencies in the RoK and local authorities that are currently receiving seasonal workers from Da Nang.

The delegation received a warm welcome, while the working sessions took place in an open and cooperative atmosphere.

During meetings with the Embassy of Vietnam in the RoK and the Consulate General of Vietnam in Busan, the sides exchanged useful and positive information to promote programs sending Vietnamese workers to the RoK for seasonal employment.

The RoK is currently stepping up investment and attracting human resources in the semiconductor and shipbuilding industries. Demand for highly skilled workers in these sectors is considerable, while South Korea is facing a shortage of labor.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thai Binh, Deputy Ambassador of Vietnam to the RoK, stressed the necessity for Da Nang to proactively prepare a workforce in these two fields to meet the needs of Korean partners, thereby creating opportunities for workers to gain access to the advanced working environment and earn higher incomes.

Meanwhile, the Vietnamese Consul General in Busan pledged to support and connect the Da Nang Department of Home Affairs with Korean localities seeking seasonal workers.

Supporting seasonal workers

During the trip, the Da Nang Department of Home Affairs delegation also met with local authorities that receive workers from Da Nang.

At a meeting with the Foreign Workers Management Board of Seongju County in Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, both sides focused on addressing difficulties and obstacles in the process of sending and receiving seasonal workers between Seongju County and the Vietnamese communes of Viet An, Hiep Duc and Phuoc Tra.

While visiting Da Nang workers employed seasonally in Seongju County, leaders of the municipal Department of Home Affairs inquired about their working and living conditions and offered spiritual encouragement.

In a warm and cordial atmosphere, the farm owners pledged to continue accepting and supporting workers from Da Nang.

More than 1,000 workers from Da Nang are currently working in Yeongyang County, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province. Most have been hired by the same orchard owners for several consecutive years.

Local authorities and orchard owners in Yeongyang expressed their appreciation for the seasonal workforce from Da Nang, which has contributed to maintaining and developing the local agricultural sector.

Leaders of the Da Nang Department of Home Affairs said the department would work with local authorities to further promote programs sending workers abroad for seasonal employment.

The department also plans to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Seongju County to arrange for workers from Hoa Vang Commune to undertake seasonal employment there.

According to Deputy Director Nguyen Qui Quy, the program sending workers to the RoK for seasonal employment through cooperation between localities of the two countries has produced practical benefits, helping improve incomes for agricultural workers in rural and mountainous areas.

While the program was initially regarded as a short-term employment solution, it has now developed into a bridge for cooperation between Vietnamese and Korean localities.

The program is therefore contributing to further strengthening the strong Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the RoK.
