The 25th International Mathematics Competition (IMC) will be held in Da Nang, Vietnam from August 14 to 19, marking the first time the country hosts the prestigious global contest.
VIMC 2025 is expected to draw over 500 student contestants, accompanied by 181 teachers and 100 international guests, from 31 countries and territories around the world.
IMC is one of the most respected math competitions in the world for upper primary and lower secondary students, offering a dynamic platform for young math talents to showcase their abilities and exchange ideas across cultures.
This year’s theme, ‘Connecting Minds, Spreading Friendship, Conquering Mathematics’, highlights the competition’s aim to promote academic excellence, creativity, and international understanding through mathematics.
Participants in Grades 5 - 8 in the 2024 - 2025 school year will take part in two divisions: individual and team contests. Both divisions include individual and team contests. All participants are required to compete in both formats, encouraging a well-rounded mathematical experience.
The opening ceremony, the official competition, the closing ceremony and the awards ceremony will all be held at the Vietnam - Korea University of Information Technology and Communications (VKU). The main competition day is scheduled for August 16.
In addition to the competition, a wide range of academic and cultural exchange activities will be organized. These include teacher workshops on curriculum and assessment, university-level seminars on technology and AI, as well as student cultural exchanges and local sightseeing programs.
The event is jointly organized by the Da Nang Department of Education and Training, in coordination with relevant departments, VKU and IEG Global JSC. Preparations are actively underway to ensure the competition is a success and leaves a lasting impression of Da Nang, and Vietnam in general, on the international community.
