DNO - The University of Da Nang has made its first appearance in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026, joining 10 other Vietnamese institutions in a record-breaking showing for the country’s higher education sector.
The new ranking, released on October 9, marks Vietnam’s strongest presence to date on the global academic stage.
Leading the group is the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), which secured a position in the 501 - 600 band, the highest among Vietnamese universities.
Following closely are Da Nang-based Duy Tan University and Ho Chi Minh City-located Ton Duc Thang University, both placed in the 601 - 800 range.
Two newcomers, Ho Chi Ming City - located Nguyen Tat Thanh University and the University of Da Nang, entered the rankings for the first time, positioned in the 1001 - 1200 and 1501+ groups, respectively. The remaining nine institutions maintained their previous positions, reflecting consistent performance and growing international recognition.
The latest results highlight Vietnam’s expanding presence in global academia, with universities increasingly meeting international benchmarks in teaching, research, and global engagement, signaling steady progress in the nation’s pursuit of world-class education.
The 2026 edition assessed nearly 2,200 institutions across 115 countries and territories, with the United States and the United Kingdom continuing to dominate the global top 10.
According to THE, the rankings are based on 18 carefully calibrated performance indicators grouped into five pillars: research quality (30%), teaching (29.5%), research environment (29%), international outlook (7.5%), and industry income and patents (4%).
