Da Nang to launch tour to explore wild elephant herd

The tourism route was informed at a seminar titled “Tourism Development Orientation for Que Phuoc Commune in the 2026 - 2031 period” held in Que Phuoc Commune on Thursday.

The initiative represents more than cooperation between local authorities and the local tourism industry. It marks the launch of a new development model that places nature conservation at its core, local communities at its center, and indigenous culture as its identity.

The route is expected to strengthen tourism connectivity, enhance destination promotion, and create linked travel itineraries that attract visitors to Que Phuoc Commune in general and the Elephant Species and Habitat Conservation Area in particular.

Planned tourism products will include environmental education programs that allow visitors to learn about the ecosystem and habitat of the wild elephant herd without disturbing the animals' natural behavior.

Visitors will also be able to explore primary forest trails as well as learn about biodiversity and conservation efforts.

In addition, the area plans to offer experiences showcasing indigenous culture, traditional cuisine, handicrafts, and the daily life of local communities, alongside controlled trekking, wildlife observation, nature photography, and scientific research activities.

Mr. Le Hoang Son, Director of the Da Nang Special-use Forest Management Board, said the Elephant Species and Habitat Conservation Area is managed by the board which is gradually developing eco-tourism products centered on nature and sustainability.

In the near future, the area is expected to become more than just a sightseeing destination. Instead, it will serve as a place where visitors can experience, explore, gain a deeper understanding of forest ecosystems, and contribute to forest conservation.
