DNO - The science exhibition “Universum. Mensch. Intelligenz” (UMI) will take place at the Da Nang Museum from May 18 - June 18 in celebration of the International Museum Day and Vietnam Science and Technology Day (May 18).

The event is organized by the Da Nang Museum in collaboration with the Goethe-Institute and the Max Planck Society.
The exhibition will introduce the public to Germany’s cutting-edge scientific research.
It also will open up a journey to explore big questions, such as the formation of the universe, the origins of humankind, how the brain functions, humanity’s impact on the planet, and the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI).
Its content will span topics ranging from the possibility of extraterrestrial life and the evolutionary journey of humans from Africa around 1.5 million years ago to issues related to perception, cognition, emotions and human intelligence.
The exhibition will also raise concerns, including climate change, biodiversity, the Anthropocene, and ethical boundaries in the era of rapidly developing AI technologies.
The entire event is structured around five main themes: The Universe, Human History, The Brain, Anthropocene, and AI.
According to the organizers, the exhibition has been designed to be highly accessible, combining popular science knowledge with Germany’s latest research through images, graphics, models, films, podcasts, and various high-tech interactive elements.
The highlight of the opening ceremony will be a series of interactive activities exploring UMI, guided by science communication experts.
Participants will have the opportunity to explore the exhibition’s main themes through hands-on activities, interactive content, and a German-language Discovery Passport.
Initiated in Germany in 2021, the STEM exhibition has since toured various cities in Europe and Asia. After Ha Noi, Da Nang is the second stop in Vietnam for the UMI exhibition before it continues to Ho Chi Minh City.
