DNO - With the passion of youth and a sense of responsibility for his homeland, for many years, teacher Duong Quoc Bao from Phu Ninh Commune, Da Nang, has persistently brought the “passport of foreign languages” to rural children, planting seeds of knowledge and confidence.
In late August, Phu Ninh Commune became bustling as it hosted the "Foreign Language Star 2025" Contest for the first time.
For many children, it was their first time stepping onto a stage, where they showcased their confidence and love for learning through speaking competitions in three languages: English, Chinese, and Vietnamese.
Many surprised the audience by confidently presenting in two or even three languages, with fluent and convincing style.
Not only a competition, the "Foreign Language Star" also opened up a new journey for rural youth: practicing language skills, learning how to master the stage, being confident in front of a crowd, making friends, and nurturing aspirations for the future.
Teacher Duong Quoc Bao, Founder of the commune-based ABO Foreign Language Center, said that the contest provided an opportunity for local children to shine. Many children have never been on stage before, but thanks to this playground, they have had a chance to showcase themselves and build their confidence.
Behind the success of the "Foreign Language Star 2025" contest is the persistence of teacher Duong Quoc Bao and his colleagues at the ABO Foreign Language Center.
With his great desire to bring knowledge back to serve his homeland, teacher Bao has persistently organized numerous academic playgrounds and cultural exchange activities with international tourists in Hoi An.
Earlier, his project “Free English Lessons for Disadvantaged Children in Quang Nam" won the second prize at the "Volunteer Student Ideas 2019" Contest organized by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Students' Association.
Through such activities and programs, many rural children have the opportunity to access new knowledge, practice skills and nurture their dreams. Gradually, teacher Duong Quoc Bao and his colleagues are helping to build a lively foreign language learning movement in the countryside.
Not only welcomed by students and parents, these activities also enjoy strong support from local organizations.
According to Secretary of the Youth Union of Phu Ninh Commune Nguyen Quoc Khanh, improving foreign language proficiency and soft skills among local youth is the unit's key task.
“In the coming time, we will organize regularly foreign language playgrounds, connect with schools and foreign language centers to practice soft skills through experience, and integrate digital learning into local Youth Union movements. This will help local young people gain confidence in global integration and build a stronger future” he emphasized.
