DNO - The Da Nang authority recently approved a principle of conducting research on building elevated roads in the city center. This is a multi-objective project designed to enhance the traffic capacity of main routes and increase urban traffic speeds, thereby contributing to local socio-economic development.

Specifically, due to the city's terrain characteristics and the fact that the city's population is mainly distributed along an East-West axis (riverside and coastal regions), there is high traffic demand along five key routes: Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, an intersection leading into Thuan Phuoc Bridge; Le Duan Street leading to Han River Bridge; Nguyen Van Linh Street connecting Dragon Bridge; Duy Tan Street crossing Tran Thi Ly Bridge; and Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Street leading to Tien Son Bridge.

Among these, the lines connecting Le Duan Street and the Han River Bridge, Nguyen Van Linh Street leading to Dragon Bridge, and Duy Tan Street leading to Tran Thi Ly Bridge attract heavy traffic volumes due to their short, convenient connections. Consequently, traffic congestion at the bridge approaches and along these route axis has become increasingly severe.
Furthermore, the Nguyen Luong Bang - Ton Duc Thang - Dien Bien Phu route axis, which serves as the sole route leading to the city's airport area to connect the West and Northwest with the East and Southeast, has become overloaded and turned into a major urban traffic bottleneck.

Therefore, the Da Nang authority noted that building elevated urban roads aims to enhance mobility and traffic throughput while reducing congestion at intersections along major arterial routes.
Alongside, these elevated roads would facilitate faster urban traffic flow and provide rapid connectivity to the Lien Chieu area in the north and Chu Lai in the south.
