Da Nang strengthens cooperation with Yeongam, South Korea

The delegation, led by the Department's Deputy Director Nguyen Thu Phuong, participated in the Mahan Historical and Cultural Festival, performing artistic programs and engaging in discussions on cultural and tourism cooperation.

During the visit, Da Nang officials and representatives of the Yeongam Culture and Tourism Foundation exchanged views on a wide range of collaborative initiatives.

These include organizing the Vietnam - South Korea Cultural Festival in Da Nang, joint art exhibitions, introducing local artists and photographers, and promoting works reflecting regional cultural identities.

Both sides also discussed artist exchanges, performance participation in major festivals, and joint creative projects connecting young artists from both countries.

The discussions extended to the preservation and promotion of tangible and intangible cultural heritage, including sharing expertise in folk arts, research, restoration, and preserving local traditions.

Tourism cooperation was emphasized, focusing on linked tours between Da Nang, Yeongam, and Jeollanam, with attention to cultural, ecological, and community-based tourism.

Other areas include exchanging experience in developing green, smart, and creative tourism initiatives.

Based on these discussions, the Yeongam Culture and Tourism Foundation and the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism signed a Memorandum of Understanding to serve as the basis for a formal cooperation agreement in the near future.

The delegation also held a working session with Yeongam County authorities and the Yeongam Culture and Tourism Foundation to discuss cultural and artistic exchanges, as well as tourism promotion initiatives.

They further explored the future direction of cooperation between the two localities.

Representatives of the Yeongam local government expressed their pleasure at the delegation’s visit and highly appreciated the potential for economic, cultural, and tourism collaboration between the two sides.

The Da Nang delegation also attended the opening ceremony of the Yeongam Multicultural Centre, a venue for cultural activities and Korean language learning for foreigners living, studying, and working in Yeongam.

Currently, Yeongam hosts a significant Vietnamese community. The operation of this center demonstrates the local government’s commitment to supporting international residents, including the Vietnamese community.
