DNO - Through international trade promotion programmes, Da Nang-based businesses are gaining greater access to overseas markets, connecting with potential partners and learning about changing consumer demand.

These opportunities help them improve product quality, strengthen competitiveness and expand exports.

Da Nang products gain momentum in international markets

At the 23rd China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO 2026), held in Nanning, Guangxi, China, from September 17 to 21, a delegation of Da Nang businesses showcased a range of locally made products, seeking to build recognition and expand their presence in one of the world's largest consumer markets.

Among the three Da Nang companies attending the expo, Hoang Phong Dana Co., Ltd. introduced a range of health and personal care products made from natural medicinal herbs.

The products meet a number of demanding quality standards and certifications, including HALAL, ISO, US FDA, OCOP and HACCP, as well as certification for outstanding rural industrial products.

The company sold more than 800 products at its booth during the event, generating nearly VND250 million in retail sales. More importantly, the expo provided opportunities to meet potential partners and explore distribution and commercial cooperation.

“After CAEXPO, the company is continuing to assess potential contacts, maintain communication and gradually turn connections made at the expo into concrete opportunities for trade and distribution,” said Ms Nguyen Thi Lien, General Director of Hoang Phong Dana Co., Ltd.

Meanwhile, at Vietnamese Week in Thailand 2026, held from September 16 to 20, NPI International Co., Ltd. from Ngu Hanh Son Ward, Da Nang established direct B2B connections with the Sourcing Departments of Central Food Retail and Central Food Wholesale.

Ms Nguyen Thi Minh Hien, Director of NPI International, said the company is now sending product samples and completing subsequent procedures.

The event enabled the business to reach decision-makers in both Central Retail's retail and wholesale channels. Some of NPI's products also benefit from preferential tariffs under the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement (ATIGA), giving them a price advantage over products sourced from outside the ASEAN region.

The company's OEM and private-label capabilities, together with certifications including ISO 22000, HACCP and US FDA, have attracted interest from international buyers.

However, Ms Hien noted that successful exporting requires businesses to overcome challenges such as limited time for initial meetings and increasingly stringent market requirements.

She suggested continued support from trade authorities in connecting local businesses with licensed importers, as well as partial assistance with sample shipping and participation in specialised international trade fairs.

Building stronger links with global buyers

For Mai Thi Y Nhi, Director of My Phuong Food Co., Ltd., which has exported Vietnamese products to 20 international markets, international trade fairs are an effective channel for small and medium-sized enterprises, particularly agricultural producers, to reach overseas buyers.

Based on her experience, businesses need to carefully select trade fairs, product categories and target markets according to their development stage.

Although trade fairs provide valuable opportunities for buyers to experience products directly, export orders may take six months to a year or even longer to materialise. “Businesses therefore need to remain persistent in following up on contacts after the fairs”, said Ms. Y Nhi.

The Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade is continuing to expand practical support for businesses through financial assistance and modern trade-promotion methods.

In late October 2026, the Department is expected to organise a programme bringing foreign businesses to Da Nang to source products.

The programme will focus on four major groups: food and beverages, furniture and interior-exterior products, household goods, and export-support services.

Da Nang businesses will have opportunities for direct B2B meetings with international buyers and importers, in a bid to seek partners, expand export markets and strengthen their participation in global supply chains.

Together, these above-mentioned efforts are giving products made in Da Nang more opportunities to move beyond the domestic market and demonstrate the quality, diversity and growing international potential of Vietnamese goods.
