DNO - A conference themed “Vietnam: A New Destination for Halal Tourism”, just held in Khanh Hoa Province, has highlighted enormous potential for the country’s tourism industry, with Da Nang emerging as one of the destinations best positioned to tap into the fast-growing Muslim travel market.

The conference was jointly organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Khanh Hoa People's Committee.
The event attracted representatives from international tourism organizations and Muslim countries, along with businesses, airlines and investors.
The participants agreed that Halal tourism has now been incorporated into Vietnam’s national tourism development strategy.
It is known that the global Halal economy is developing strongly, opening up enormous potential for Vietnam. Currently, there are over 2 billion Muslims worldwide.
By 2030, Halal tourist arrivals are expected to reach approximately 245 million, generating an estimated US$255 - 280 billion in total spending. This marks it one of the fastest-growing segments of the international tourism industry.
To fully tap this market, experts emphasized the need to build a comprehensive Halal ecosystem, develop dedicated tourism products, improve the quality of human resources, and strengthen promotion in key source markets.

Thanks to its modern infrastructure, extensive international connectivity, high-end hospitality facilities and experience serving diverse international markets, Da Nang is considered one of Vietnam’s most promising destinations for developing a Halal tourism ecosystem and gradually attracting high-spending Muslim travelers.
Specifically, Da Nang International Airport currently operates dozens of direct flights to Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia and India, as well as continues to expand connections to new markets.
This provides convenient access for visitors from Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei and the Middle East through major aviation hubs such as Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok and Doha.
The central coastal city is also one of Vietnam’s major resort destinations as it boasts hundreds of four- and five-star hotels, beachfront resorts, international golf courses, convention centers and high-end tourism services.
These existing assets provide a strong foundation for developing Halal-friendly travel packages without requiring extensive new investment.
According to travel agencies, Muslim travelers generally prioritize safe, family-friendly destinations that offer private spaces, maintain clean environments and respect religious practices.
Many tourism enterprises in Da Nang have begun paying closer attention to the Muslim travel segment.
Luxury hotels are proactively training staff on Islamic culture, developing suitable menus and providing dedicated facilities to meet guests' needs.
Travel companies are also designing resort packages combining golf, wellness, MICE tourism (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions), and cultural experiences tailored to high-spending travelers.
The city already has several hotels and resorts capable of serving Halal meals upon request, while a number of restaurants have obtained Halal certification.
Da Nang has also gradually welcomed visitor groups from Malaysia, Indonesia and India. However, the number of Halal-certified establishments is still quite modest compared with the city's potential.
Under the roadmap outlined at the Vietnam Halal Tourism Conference 2026, Vietnam will prioritize developing a national Halal tourism strategy, training human resources and improving business support policies during 2026-2027.
Between 2028 and 2030, the focus will be on upgrading infrastructure, enhancing the quality of Halal-compliant services and strengthening international cooperation.
