DNO - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Council Tran Phuoc Son chaired a meeting on Tuesday with Mr. Mizoguchi Fumio, Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party’s Parliamentary Group of Japan’s Nagasaki Prefectural Council.
During his reception, Vice Chairman Son informed that following the merger with Quang Nam Province from July 1, 2025, new Da Nang boasted vast development space and opportunities in both economic and cultural fields.
He added that the city will actively boost international integration, as well as strengthen friendly cooperation and exchanges with international partners, with focus on Japanese partners and localities, especially Nagasaki Prefecture.
Based on the foundation of the cooperation established between Nagasaki and former Quang Nam Province, the People's Council of Da Nang will continue to deepen the collaboration contents in such aspects as economy, human resource training, culture, exchange of experience of the council delegates of the two localities in policymaking for socio-economic development.
To date, Da Nang has signed memorandums of understanding to establish official friendship and cooperation relations with 6 Japanese localities, namely Kawasaki, Sakai, Yokohama and Kisarazu (with former Da Nang); as well as Nagasaki Prefecture and Kinokawa City (with former Quang Nam Province).
Mr. Son voiced his hope that in the coming time, the council agencies of the two localities will increase exchange activities, share experiences in policymaking as well as council work between the two localities.
He also called for continued support to facilitate cooperation between departments and sectors of the two localities, particularly in training medical personnel and sharing expertise in organic and high-tech agriculture.
For his part, Mr. Mizoguchi Fumio thanked Da Nang’s leader for his warm welcome and emphasized the strong ties between Vietnam and Japan. He expressed his hope that the coming period would see more exchange activities between Nagasaki and Da Nang, particularly in tourism development.
Given the many similarities between the two localities, he suggested that they should hold further working sessions to jointly develop ideas for new areas of cooperation.
