Da Nang leaders visit Salavane and Champasak (Laos)

DNO - A Da Nang delegation led by Standing Deputy Party Secretary Nguyen Dinh Vinh, on the morning of October 29, paid a working visit to Salavane province, where they met with Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Daovong Phonekeo.

During the meeting, Deputy Secretary Nguyen Dinh Vinh highlighted Da Nang’s long-standing ties with the Central and Southern provinces of Laos, including Salavane, forged through shared struggles for independence and development.

He reaffirmed the city’s commitment to deepening cooperation, noting that Salavane is a key partner in Da Nang’s 2026 - 2030 Cooperation Enhancement Plan with Lao localities.

Deputy Secretary Nguyen Dinh Vinh also congratulated Salavane on its successful 2025 - 2030 Party Congress and Daovong Phonekeo on his reappointment as Provincial Party Secretary.

Secretary Daovong Phonekeo expressed his hope that Da Nang would continue to support Salavane in education, healthcare, human resource training, and agricultural development.

He said this partnership will further strengthen the enduring friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, particularly between Da Nang and Salavane, making it “forever green and eternally strong”.

In the afternoon, Deputy Secretary Nguyen Dinh Vinh and his delegation visited Champasak, where they met with provincial Party Secretary Alounxay Sounnalath.

At the meeting, Deputy Secretary Nguyen Dinh Vinh provided updates on the Da Nang - Quang Nam merger and the city’s recent achievements in fulfilling its development goals and adapting to the new phase of national growth.

Secretary Alounxay Sounnalath expressed his hope that Da Nang would encourage Vietnamese enterprises to invest in Champasak’s potential sectors, including fertiliser production, food processing, agricultural machinery, and tourism.

He also proposed the establishment of a direct flight route to Champasak and requested Da Nang’s support in urban planning and development.

Deputy Secretary Nguyen Dinh Vinh affirmed that Da Nang acknowledges Champasak’s proposals and will study their feasibility for inclusion in the city’s 2026 - 2030 Cooperation Plan.
