According to the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the three-day festival will unfold across key public spaces along the Han River, particularly the area around 40 - 42 Bach Dang Street, as well as cultural institutions across the city.
The event will also receive strong participation from local businesses involved in tailoring, rental services, and the commercial promotion of Vietnam’s traditional "Ao dai".
The festival will open with a formal ceremony, followed by a series of large-scale cultural and artistic activities designed to engage both residents and visitors.
One of the highlights is the "Ao dai" parade titled “Da Nang Imprints”, which will bring together thousands of participants, showcasing the elegance of Vietnam’s national dress in a vibrant community celebration.
Another key programme, “Hoi An - Colours of Silk,” will spotlight the cultural heritage of the UNESCO heritage site, blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design expressions.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to experience on-site tailoring and customization spaces, offering a closer look at the craftsmanship behind Ao Dai making.
A signature artistic performance, “Han River Convergence,” is scheduled to take place at the Nguyen Van Troi Bridge, one of Da Nang’s symbolic landmarks associated with the city’s development journey.
The show is expected to combine visual arts, fashion, and performance to create a modern cultural spectacle along the riverfront.
In addition to "Ao dai" performances, the festival will feature community-driven initiatives aimed at fostering connection and cultural exchange.
Programmes such as “Ao Dai Connection - Friendship Ties” and “Ao Dai - Bonds of Love” will encourage cultural interaction among domestic and international participants.
Public engagement campaigns, including social media check-ins under hashtags such as #AodaiDanang2026 and #DanangInOurAoDai, are expected to amplify the festival’s reach.
Participating businesses and cultural institutions will offer promotional activities, including discounts on services and reduced admission fees to selected heritage sites and museums.
These initiatives aim to create an accessible, festive atmosphere that encourages wider public participation.
As the first edition of the festival, the "Ao dai" Da Nang 2026 represents an ambitious effort to reposition the traditional Vietnamese garment within modern urban life.
The city aims to shift perceptions of the "Ao dai" from a ceremonial symbol to a practical, everyday cultural expression.
More broadly, the festival reflects Da Nang’s strategy to develop creative cultural spaces that connect designers, artisans, businesses and communities.
By integrating tradition with innovation, the city seeks to enhance its appeal as a cultural tourism destination that is both authentic and forward-looking, inviting visitors to experience Vietnam’s heritage in a dynamic, living form.
