Da Nang, Germany’s Thuringia strengthen cooperation on human resource development

The Thuringia delegation was led by Mr Frank Schulze, the Head of Department, the Ministry of of Social Affairs, Health, Labour and Family of the State of Thuringia.

At the event, both sides reviewed outcomes of existing cooperation in labour, healthcare, and social affairs, and discussed orientations for future collaboration.

As reported by Mr. Schulze, Thuringia is facing an aging population and expects a shortage of around 100,000 workers in the coming years.

The state government is working to implement various policies to attract young and skilled workers.

Mr. Schulze highly valued the quality of Vietnam’s human resources, particularly those from Da Nang, and expressed interest in expanding recruitment cooperation in fields such as healthcare, food technology, mechanical engineering and socio-economic development.

Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs Nguyen Qui Quy said that several universities and colleges in Da Nang have already sent students to work in Thuringia through existing partnership programmes in nursing, food technology, and culinary engineering.

He added that Da Nang hopes to soon sign a memorandum of understanding with Thuringia to strengthen cooperation in workforce development.

The partnership would focus on policies to attract and support workers, improve working conditions and salaries, enhance professional training and promote German language education in Da Nang.

The collaboration aims to create more opportunities for local workers to gain international experience, while helping Thuringia address its labour shortages in key sectors.
