DNO - Da Nang is looking to diversify its night-time offerings by developing integrated destinations that bring together shopping, gastronomy, culture, arts and entertainment, rather than relying on standalone services.

Two notable proposals, My Khe Paradise and Ocean Seven - Da Nang, reflect this direction, each offering a distinct approach to attracting visitors after dark.

My Khe Paradise: A vibrant beachfront destination

Proposed by MBLand Da Nang at 268 Vo Nguyen Giap Street, My Khe Paradise is envisioned as a complex combining commercial facilities, accommodation, beach services, cultural activities and entertainment.

The proposed night-time economy area will cover approximately 8,000sq.m, featuring a pedestrian street, food outlets, exhibition spaces, artistic performances and an ocean-themed park.

The project also explores the possibility of hosting annual beach and international music festivals. Along a proposed 500m stretch of beachfront services, facilities would be arranged alongside pedestrian paths and public beach access points, with the aim of limiting concrete construction on the sandy beach.

Vu Thanh Hue, Chairman of the Board of Directors of MBLand Da Nang, said: “We are particularly committed to this project, which aims to create sustainable value by bringing traditional and modern elements together”.

The company hopes to help position Da Nang as a city of music, shopping, light and festivals, offering visitors a vibrant destination both day and night.

Ocean Seven: Entertainment powered by technology

While My Khe Paradise focuses on commerce, gastronomy, culture and beachfront services, Ocean Seven - Da Nang, proposed by FTZ KITA Trung Nam Co., Ltd., takes a different approach centered on entertainment and cutting-edge performance technologies.

The proposal envisions a marine tourism, service and entertainment complex designed to support the development of the night-time economy.

Its concept is structured around three interconnected elements: 5 Zones defining the spatial layout, 7 Waves shaping the visitor journey, and an “Ocean Heart” serving as the central attraction.

A key highlight is the proposed regular show, “Seven Waves Awaken”, combining music, lighting, water effects, lasers, visual projections and drone performances.

The investor expects the show to become a signature entertainment product, adding a distinctive attraction to Da Nang’s coastal tourism offerings and encouraging visitors to return.

The two proposals reflect different but complementary approaches to developing the city’s night-time economy.

If realized, these concepts could help strengthen Da Nang’s appeal as a destination where visitors have more opportunities to explore, enjoy and experience the city throughout the day and into the night.

Building an integrated and sustainable night-time economy

Da Nang is looking to build a connected night-time economy in which tourism, culture, entertainment and creative industries complement one another.

In Ngu Hanh Son Ward, the proposed My Khe Paradise project by MBLand Da Nang is expected to connect with the An Thuong and Tran Bach Dang tourist streets, as well as tourism services along the Vo Nguyen Giap - Truong Sa coastal route.

These links could help establish a seamless service ecosystem catering to both domestic and international visitors.

Together with the second phase of An Thuong Tourist Quarter and the planned Ngu Hanh Son Cultural Park, the project is also expected to create new opportunities for cultural tourism. Da Nang’s development vision also encompasses areas further inland.

The municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has proposed three key cultural industry zones covering approximately 2,817.2ha.

These include the Han River waterfront, the eastern bank and Da Nang Bay area (703.2ha); the ancient town of Hoi An and its surroundings (793ha); and Tam Ky urban area and neighboring localities (1,321ha).

A proposed cultural creative industrial zone in Thang An Commune, west of Vo Chi Cong Street and bordering the Truong Giang River, would feature a theme park modeled on Disneyland, high-end resorts, event squares, outdoor stages, exhibition and convention facilities, immersive performances, light-art spaces, and integrated shopping and entertainment complexes.

By balancing economic growth with cultural preservation, environmental protection, public security and community interests, Da Nang aims to build a vibrant and sustainable night-time economy.
