DNO - Da Nang, Vietnam’s coastal hub known for its dynamic growth, is also home to a wealth of traditional crafts that embody the city’s cultural identity.

With more than 100 crafts and 39 officially recognized craft villages, Da Nang’s artisans continue to safeguard centuries-old skills while embracing innovation to meet the demands of a globalized market.
Among them, the Non Nuoc Stone Carving Village stands as a symbol of resilience and creativity. For generations, artisans have transformed marble into intricate sculptures admired both locally and abroad. To protect authenticity, artisans are now applying blockchain technology to label their works, ensuring traceability and credibility.
“Blockchain labeling not only guarantees authenticity and trust, but also spreads our products’ image further. It motivates us to create even more refined pieces that proudly carry the Non Nuoc name”, said says artisan Mai Thanh Thien.

Local authorities are also integrating craft development with tourism. In Ngu Hanh Son Ward, a traditional house for the stone-carving village is being planned, designed both to showcase artisans’ work and to honour their contributions.
Visitors will soon be able to experience hands-on stone-carving, deepening appreciation for the artistry while supporting local livelihoods.
This trend is gaining momentum. In June 2025, Dong Khuong Village in Dien Ban Ward, Da Nang, was officially recognized as a tourist destination.

The site now welcomes visitors to witness the craftsmanship behind pottery and wooden products while immersing themselves in the region’s cultural history.
Such initiatives not only stimulate product demand but also turn traditional villages into vibrant cultural attractions.
Craft villages in Da Nang are more than an economic activity, they represent cultural “brands” that distinguish the city on the international stage.
By combining heritage with innovation, Da Nang is charting a path where traditional craftsmanship not only survives but flourishes as a vital part of modern, sustainable development.
