Both sides discussed cooperation between Da Nang and European partners, highlighting the recent MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) signed with Austria’s AED (The Agency for Economic Cooperation and Development) at the EU-Vietnam Global Gateway Business and Investment Forum (GGBIF) in Hanoi on March 24.
Vice Chairman Ho Quang Buu welcomed the EU delegation and the success of the GGBIF, expressing confidence that cooperation with Austria’s AED will drive progress in science, technology, and digital transformation. He called for stronger EU support in seaports, urban rail, clean energy, and human resources.
The city also sought cooperation on Lien Chieu Port and proposed support for pumped-storage hydropower to enhance energy security and green transition, while aiming to become one of the world’s top 50 smart cities.

Ambassador Julien Guerrier and other EU ambassadors expressed their impression of Da Nang’s development, highly appreciated the MoU with AED, and affirmed the EU’s role as a reliable partner in logistics, renewable energy, and urban transport.
Vice Chairman Ho Quang Buu invited EU representatives to major 2026 events, including Finance-Technology Week, the Startup and Innovation Festival (SURF) 2026, and the Da Nang Venture and Angel Summit.

Da Nang currently has cooperative ties with 13 localities across nine EU countries and, from May 2023 to March 2026, licensed 24 EU-invested FDI (foreign direct investment) projects worth nearly USD 2 million in manufacturing, services, tourism, and information technology.
