DNO - Cuisine is not only an essential need but also an indispensable part of spiritual life, reflecting the customs, traditions and lifestyle of a community. Preserving local dishes plays a pivotal role in promoting cultural identity as well as serves as a bridge for cultural exchange with other countries.

Beauty of local culinary culture

With the desire to create a distinctive culinary identity for Da Nang, the Da Nang Culinary Culture Association (DCCA) in collaboration with Grab Vietnam (Grab) recently honoured 68 local restaurants and eateries with the prestigious title of ‘Quan Tru Danh’ (Signature Eateries), recognising their role in shaping the city’s unique culinary identity.

In particular, 40 iconic eateries were honored in the “Signature Flavours” category, including My Quang 1A, My Quang Ba Xuan, Banh Xeo Ba Duong, Bi My Cho Con, Ba Lu Fishcake Noodles, and Ba Roi Beef Rice Noodles.

Another 12 restaurants were recognized in the “Most Loved” category such as Bep Trang, Ngoc Chi Vegetarian Restaurant, and Bep Co Cao.

Meanwhile, the “Rising Stars” category celebrated 16 establishments with impressive growth like Hai Coi, Banh Mi 365, and Tuc Tac Tea.

Winners were selected based on nominations from DCCA after expert consultations, feedback from travel agencies and tourist surveys, GrabFood user data in 2024 - 2025, and compliance with each unit's operational and legal standards.

Developing culinary experience areas

In the near future, DCCA will propose the implementation of a project to develop distinctive culinary areas citywide, beginning with the An Thuong culinary area. The pilot area will feature about 28 stalls, including 8 showcasing Da Nang specialties and 20 offering dishes from Viet Nam’s three regions.

This culinary area will also provide an exciting experiential space when organizing such activities as cooking demonstrations, indigenous cultural models, and food tours.

In addition, mini shows will be organized to promote local culinary culture of ethnic communities, including Co Tu and Cham, and to widely spread culinary experience stories.
