Da Nang’s market management forces regularly inspect and monitor business activities to minimize the circulation of counterfeit goods in the city.

This change will pave the way for Da Nang's market management sector to continue implementing technological solutions to enhance the effectiveness of goods quality control and protect consumers.

During the recent peak campaign to prevent and repel smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property rights violations, functional bodies in the city have handled over 150 violations. Additionally, thousands of smuggled goods of unknown origin have been seized and destroyed.

Based on data collected from these inspections, the authorities have used artificial intelligence (AI) technology to conduct risk analysis and identify high-risk groups of goods, businesses, and areas.

The municipal Department of Science and Technology has closely worked with the city’s Market Management Bureau to promote the use of QR code-based electronic traceability systems, especially for agricultural products, food, pharmaceuticals, and essential consumer goods.

Consumers only need to scan the codes to access all information about product origin, supply chain, testing, and related warnings.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thi, Director of the city branch of the Viet Nam Productivity Institute, said that one of the highlights was the integration of the ISO 9001:2015 standards into local supply chain and logistics centers.

“Enterprises meeting ISO standards will be prioritized in bidding activities, and allowed to distribute products to large supermarkets and enjoy the city's digital transformation support policies. This will motivate businesses to upgrade their management systems, thereby building a transparent and competitive trade environment” said Mr. Thi.

With a technology and data-based approach, Da Nang is gradually shifting from an administrative mechanism to an advanced risk management model.

This helps not only businesses take the initiative in ensuring product quality but also management agencies focus resources on areas with high potential risks.

The city’s efforts aim to gradually establish a resilient and sustainable commercial ecosystem which is capable of withstanding fraudulent practices in the digital age.

Mrs. Le Thi Kim Phuong, Director of the Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade, emphasized that the application of technology in market management and product quality will greatly contribute to the formation of a transparent and public trade ecosystem.
