DNO - On the afternoon of November 12, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang City People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi received a delegation from the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), led by Martin Kabaluapa Kapinga, Director General of WWF International Offices, during their visit to Da Nang.

Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi expressed her appreciation for WWF’s active support and contributions to programmes and projects in Da Nang. She noted that WWF had provided important financial and technical assistance for forest protection, biodiversity conservation, and livelihood improvement in communities within project areas.
She also hoped that WWF would continue its cooperation with the city through new initiatives. Priority areas include developing a biodiversity conservation strategy, creating sustainable financing mechanisms for nature protection, promoting education and public awareness, strengthening forest protection and restoration, and applying technology in natural resource management and environmental protection.
Director General Martin Kabaluapa Kapinga praised the conservation efforts in former Da Nang City and Quang Nam Province, noting the cities’ strong commitment to environmental protection.
He affirmed that in the coming period, WWF will continue to accompany and elevate cooperation programmes, projects, and memoranda of understanding to new levels in biodiversity and nature conservation.

To support Da Nang residents affected by the recent floods, the WWF delegation donated USD 40,000 (approximately VND 1 billion) to assist the city in helping affected communities overcome hardships.
