Da Nang and Laos' Savannakhet strengthen People’s Council cooperation

DNO - A high-level delegation from Da Nang City, led by municipal People’s Council Chairman Nguyen Duc Dung, had a meeting with leaders of Savannakhet province on September 14 as part of a working visit to South-Central Laos.

The meeting was attended by Vietnamese Consul General in Savannakhet Nguyen Van Dung, Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, and representatives of local departments and agencies.

Savannakhet provincial People’s Council Chairman Bounchom Ubonpaseuth hosted the delegation.

On behalf of Da Nang’s leaders, Nguyen Duc Dung thanked Savannakhet authorities for their warm welcome and expressed his pleasure at the increasingly close ties of outstanding friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and strategic cohesion between Vietnam and Laos in general, and between Da Nang and Savannakhet and other South-Central Lao provinces in particular.

Nguyen Duc Dung congratulated Savannakhet on its socio-economic achievements and expressed sympathy over damage caused by recent flooding.

In 2026, Da Nang provided scholarships for 25 Savannakhet officials and students, sent two Vietnamese-language teachers to the province, and hosted 45 officials and students from its Vietnamese Language Centre for a study visit.

Nguyen Duc Dung expressed his hope that Da Nang and Savannakhet would further deepen their friendship and cooperation across various fields, strengthen exchanges of experience in organisational structure and the operations of elected bodies, and expand cooperation in healthcare and education.

Bounchom Ubonpaseuth thanked Da Nang for its support and goodwill towards Savannakhet through cooperation programmes implemented in recent years.

Bounchom Ubonpaseuth expressed hope for the effective implementation of the Savannakhet - Da Nang cooperation programme for the 2026-2030 period and proposed sharing experiences in People’s Council operations.
