Welcoming the delegation led by Sven Schulze, Pham Duc An said the visit helped strengthen cooperation between Da Nang and Chemnitz amid the growing partnership between Vietnam and Germany.

He highlighted positive cooperation with German partners in investment, manufacturing, and ODA (Official Development Assistance) programmes in environment, healthcare, and social welfare, providing a foundation to expand collaboration in high technology, innovation, and sustainable development.

Following its administrative merger with Quang Nam Province, Da Nang has expanded development space with synchronised infrastructure, including international airports, seaports, and heritage sites such as Hoi An Ancient Town and My Son Sanctuary.

The city is also implementing major initiatives such as the Vietnam International Financial Centre and a planned free trade zone.

Da Nang aims to develop logistics, high technology, and the digital economy while advancing sectors like semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), and Internet of Things.

City leaders expressed hope that German businesses, particularly from Chemnitz, will invest in these emerging industries, with the city committed to providing favourable conditions for sustainable operations.

Sven Schulze thanked Da Nang’s leaders for the warm reception and praised the city’s dynamic development, expressing interest in cooperation in information technology, microchips, and semiconductors. He said Chemnitz would connect universities and research institutes with Da Nang while encouraging businesses from both sides to explore investment opportunities.

He also noted that the Vietnamese community in Chemnitz plays an important role in strengthening ties between the two cities.
