New attractions in new phase

Da Nang possesses a strategic geographical location as being located in the midpoint of the country and serving as the main gateway to the East Sea for the East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC) which connects directly with Myanmar, Thailand and Laos.

In terms of infrastructure, the city boasts all four key modes of transport: expressways, the Trans-Vietnam railway, deep-water seaports, and an international airport.

Its system of industrial parks and high-tech zones has been systematically planned. Da Nang currently has six industrial parks with high occupancy rates and is expanding with new developments such as Hoa Ninh and Hoa Nhon industrial parks, along with clusters tailored for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

With over 25 universities and colleges, notably the University of Da Nang, the city annually supplies more than 40,000 graduates to the labour market, a large proportion of whom are trained in engineering, information technology, and business administration.

Da Nang has long built its brand as a "livable city", not only for its residents but also for businesses. Political stability and consistency in investment policies are major advantages.

The municipal government has maintained an e-government model and is advancing toward a fully digital government, helping to enhance transparency across administrative procedures.

Da Nang’s appeal in the 2025 - 2026 period has surged, driven by special mechanisms. This provides an advanced legal framework allowing the city to pilot the establishment of a Free Trade Zone (FTZ) linked to Lien Chieu Port.

All these demonstrate that Da Nang has been equipped with some of the most competitive policy tools, enabling it to compete directly with free economic zones in Singapore and Shanghai. This will contribute to opening up significant opportunities for multinational investors wanting to shift supply chains to Vietnam.

Breakthrough in developing business ecosystem

A central and symbolic development for Da Nang is the operation of Vietnam’s first Free Trade Zone. By 2030, the Da Nang Free Trade Zone aims to attract between US$5 - 7 billion in FDI, contributing approximately 1.5 - 2% to annual GRDP growth.

The city has also identified semiconductors as a new growth driver, with a strategic focus on building a closed-loop ecosystem spanning training, design and testing.

The initial success is evidenced by attracting corporations such as Marvell, Synopsys, and Nvidia to establish representative offices in the city. These are expected to create over 3,000 high-skilled jobs with an average monthly salary of over US$2,500, creating spillover effects for local supporting industries.

Through administrative reform and a data-driven governance model, the city is shifting from “on-demand support” to “proactive support” using Big Data.

It has launched a “Digital Map of Investment Opportunities” integrating data on 219 key projects for the 2026 - 2030 period, including detailed information on location, land status, zoning plans and applicable incentives.

Amid tightening global environmental standards such as the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), Da Nang is implementing a “green enterprise” strategy. The city supports up to 50% of costs for energy audits and green certifications (ISO 14001, LEED) for manufacturing firms.

With a clear strategic vision and strong political commitment, Da Nang is well positioned to become a major growth pole in central Vietnam, contributing significantly to national competitiveness.
