DNO - After more than 22 years, the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone (OEZ) has emerged as a key growth nucleus in Southern Da Nang City and the Central Key Economic Region.

Bustling activity at key projects
Construction is progressing rapidly at Subzone B of the Nam Thang Binh Industrial Park, with infrastructure works such as roads, ground levelling, and drainage underway.
The 346-hectare project, invested in by Nam Thang Binh Industrial Park Infrastructure Investment Joint Stock Company (part of BIN Corporation Group) has total capital exceeding VND 3,373 billion and is located north of the Chu Lai OEZ.
Together with nearby industrial zones, the project is expected to become a major growth driver for Southern Da Nang, creating thousands of jobs.
According to CEO Le Hung Anh, Phase 1 (35 ha) has reached about 30% completion and is scheduled to finish before June 30. Two secondary investors have shown interest, including PacinfraX with a planned USD 500 million AI data centre and VoltoraX Technology with a USD 40 million solar panel and battery energy storage plant.
Affirming its role as a growth nucleus
The Chu Lai Open Economic Zone, established in 2003, covers 27,040 hectares and serves as a multi-sector coastal economic zone in the Central Key Economic Region.
According to Nguyen Hong Quang, Head of the Chu Lai OEZ Management Board, the zone has attracted 261 projects worth VND 149,030 billion, including 196 domestic and 65 foreign-invested projects. Currently, 164 projects are operational, employing around 45,000-50,000 workers.

Many projects support industrial development, particularly automobile manufacturing and assembly, helping strengthen Vietnam’s automotive industry, integrate it into global value chains, and boost exports and budget revenues.
The zone’s development plan includes industrial parks, non-tariff zones, logistics and port centres, tourism and urban areas, training facilities, and high-tech agriculture. However, infrastructure gaps, particularly at Chu Lai Airport and port logistics systems, still limit connectivity and competitiveness.

In the coming period, authorities aim to accelerate strategic infrastructure projects, upgrade Chu Lai Airport, improve maritime access channels, and strengthen regional transport links, while enhancing utilities and attracting investment in supporting industries, logistics, aviation, and urban services.
By 2030, the Chu Lai OEZ is expected to need about 19,676 residential and resettlement plots, with investment exceeding VND 3.2 trillion, alongside VND 1,344 billion proposed for social housing and resettlement projects for 2026 - 2030. Several resettlement and worker housing projects are already underway.
