DNO - Green transformation is no longer a choice but an inevitable trend. In Da Nang, businesses are proactively adapting while the city pushes ahead with the development of eco-industrial parks, creating new momentum toward a circular economy.
Transforming production models
Businesses in Da Nang are gradually transforming traditional production models towards greener and more sustainable operations, in line with global economic shifts.
Control and Automation Solutions Company (CAS) in Hoa Cam Industrial Park is such an example which has developed a combined solar farm and agricultural model.
The company installed rooftop solar systems while using the space below to raise chickens and grow vegetables and medicinal herbs, supplying 10,000 eggs weekly.
CAS has also established an organic hydroponic vegetable system, reusing processed organic waste as microbial fertiliser to create greener factory spaces. The company is now expanding into circular "rice-fish-duck" farming and low-emission rice pilots using solar-powered irrigation and biochar technology.
Meanwhile, Hai Van Clean Energy Joint Stock Company focuses on waste-to-energy solutions. The firm converts urban debris, such as fallen branches, into biomass pellets as a clean alternative to coal for partners, including Heineken Vietnam Brewery, Da Nang Vinamilk, and Da Nang Rubber Joint Stock Company.
They are currently piloting a closed-loop system at Quan Ho Market to transform organic waste into fertilizer and animal feed.
Developing eco-industrial parks
The green transformation efforts of businesses are helping advance Da Nang’s broader goal of developing eco-industrial parks.
According to Doan Thi Ngoc Thuy from the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park and Industrial Zones Authority, Hoa Khanh Industrial Park was selected as one of five pilot eco-industrial parks nationwide.
After four years, 30% of the park’s enterprises have adopted 228 clean production solutions, saving VND14 trillion annually and significantly reducing waste and emissions.
The model has also fostered six industrial symbiosis chains, including biogas recovery from the Heineken Vietnam Brewery, paper recycling for Tan Long Packaging Company and Viet Lam Company’s wood waste reuse for Green Energy Investment and Production Joint Stock Company.
Moving forward, Da Nang will prioritize resource efficiency, industrial synergies, and green infrastructure.
Doan Thi Ngoc Thuy emphasized that eco-industrial parks are a vital economic strategy to cement the city's status as a sustainable hub, driving green growth, attracting investment, and strengthening climate resilience.
