DNO - Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Ho Ky Minh hosted a reception on Monday for Belgian Ambassador to Vietnam Karl Van den Bossche during his visit to the central city.
During the meeting, Vice Chairman Minh informed the Belgian diplomat about the city’s socio-economic achievements and its new development orientation following the recent merger.
He highly appreciated the cooperative ties between Da Nang and its Belgian partners. Currently, two FDI projects from Belgium have registered to invest in the city with a total capital of about US$ 40,000.
The city leader also expressed his wish to further foster extensive cooperation with Belgian partners in such spheres as logistics, seaports, urban areas, high technology, innovation, tourism, culture, and the development of free trade zones, with a special focus on partnerships with the Flanders region.
Mr. Minh also said that relevant departments and agencies will continue to work with the Belgian Embassy delegation about Da Nang’s strengths and development strategies.
For his part, Ambassador Karl Van den Bossche expressed his impression of the city’s remarkable development achievements. He also noted that Belgium in general, and the Flanders region in particular, was one of Vietnam's major trade and investment partners in the European Union.
During their working visit to Da Nang, the delegation of the Embassy of Belgium in Vietnam will explore and discuss the possibility of cooperation in developing the Da Nang Free Trade Zone and other aspects where both sides share strengths and potential.
