According to Mr. Mai Van Duong, Director of the Elephant Species and Habitat Conservation Area, the baby elephant is nearly one year old and was born in the Na Lau area of the protected forest. Images extracted from camera traps on July 8 show that the elephant is healthy, moves flexibly and is closely monitored and protected by the mother elephant.

This is a positive sign of the natural reproduction process among wild elephants and serves as evidence of the effectiveness of the unit's efforts in forest protection and biodiversity conservation.

Previously, in March 2025, the forest owner received a report from the patrol and forest protection team about the signs of elephant reproduction in the managed forest area.

To verify the information, the team organized the installation of camera traps in several locations where elephant herds often appeared. After more than 3 months of efforts, the team discovered a baby elephant when checking the footage from camera traps.

To date, this reserve has recorded 9 elephants, with a complete herd structure, including male, female and calf elephants.

Additionally, through the use of camera traps, the Elephant Species and Habitat Conservation Area Management Board has recorded the increasing density of rare wild animals such as Truong Son muntjac, gray-shanked douc langurs, red-faced monkeys, Truong Son striped rabbits, and crested pheasants.
